Overwinter potted plants
-
Sort into three groups.
Hardy stays out protected, half-hardy wants a cold bright room, tropical comes into the warmth. The label or a search decides.
-
Move before the first hard frost.
Pots freeze through from all sides: container plants die at temperatures their ground-planted siblings survive.
-
Cold and bright beats warm and dark.
Five to ten degrees with light (stairwell, garage window, cold greenhouse) keeps half-hardies asleep instead of starving.
-
Water barely, feed never.
A sip a month against total drying. Winter growth is weak, pale and pest-prone.
-
Insulate what stays outside.
Pot on wood blocks, wrapped in jute or bubble wrap, pushed to the house wall, watered on frost-free days. Most winter pot deaths are drought, not cold.

#1 becomes the Core. This atoma is young: submit a better distillation and take the seat.
No gear needed. Your pot, a timer and ice are enough. That is the point.
