Keep gutters clear in leaf season
-
Time it after the main fall.
One thorough clean once the trees are mostly bare beats three panicky ones in October.
-
Work toward the downpipe, then flush.
Scoop from the far end, then hose: water backing up means the pipe is packed.
-
Fit a leaf catcher in the downpipe.
The cheap basket at the top of the pipe stops the blockage where it actually kills gutters.
-
Consider mesh only for heavy tree cover.
Brush and mesh guards halve the cleaning but silt up themselves. Under a single birch, skip them; under an oak canopy, worth it.
-
Check the fall lines while you are up there.
Standing water in the gutter means a sagging bracket: bend or re-screw it now, before ice makes it a spring repair.

#1 becomes the Core. This atoma is young: submit a better distillation and take the seat.
No gear needed. Your pot, a timer and ice are enough. That is the point.
