Drill into a wall without damage

draft · verifying 170 searches/moasked 185 ways distilled today
  1. 1

Find out what the wall is.

Knock: hollow means plasterboard, dull means solid. Then scan for pipes and cables before anything else.

  2. 2

    Pick bit and mode.

Wood or plasterboard: normal drilling. Brick or concrete: hammer mode and a masonry bit.

  3. 3

    Start slow and square.

Tape marks the depth. Hold the drill at ninety degrees and start at low speed so the bit does not wander.

  4. 4

    Drill, then clear the hole.

Steady pressure, let the bit cut. Pull out and blow the dust free so the plug seats fully.

  5. 5

    Seat the plug flush.

Tap it in until level with the wall, then drive the screw. It should bite, not spin.

#1 becomes the Core. This atoma is young: submit a better distillation and take the seat.

No gear needed. Your pot, a timer and ice are enough. That is the point.
