Perform a kettlebell swing correctly
-
Set up like a deadlift.
Bell one foot ahead. Hinge at the hips, flat back, grip the horn with both hands.
- Feet shoulder-width, toes slightly out
- Shoulders packed: lats on, no shrug
- Weight mid-foot to heel
-
Hike it back.
Throw the bell back high between your thighs, like snapping a football.
-
Snap the hips.
Stand up violently. The hips launch the bell: the arms are only ropes.
- Cue: jump without leaving the ground
- Squeeze the glutes hard at lockout
- Don’t lean back at the top
-
Float at chest height.
Let the bell drift weightless to shoulder level. Don’t lift with the arms.
-
Ride it down, repeat.
Stay tall until the last moment, then hinge as forearms hit thighs. Sharp exhale each snap.
- Chest stays tall until forearms touch the thighs
- Sharp exhale on every rep
