Deadlift a barbell with a flat back

draft · verifying asked 185 ways distilled today
  1. 1

Walk to the bar, shins close.

Bar over mid-foot, about an inch from the shins. Feet hip-width, toes slightly out.

  2. 2

Hinge and grip just outside the legs.

Hips back, hands outside the shins, arms vertical from the front.

  3. 3

    Wedge: chest up, slack out.

Pull the bar taut, drop the hips until the shins touch the bar, lats on. You should feel spring-loaded.

  4. 4

Push the floor, bar against the legs.

Stand in one piece. The bar drags up the shins and thighs; daylight between bar and body is leaked force.

  5. 5

Lock out, then hinge it home.

Hips through, tall finish, no lean-back. Return along the same path, hips back first.

#1 becomes the Core. This atoma is young: submit a better distillation and take the seat.

No gear needed. Your pot, a timer and ice are enough. That is the point.
