Teach a dog to sit

Start hungry, quiet and short.
Before a meal, no distractions, five minutes maximum.

Lure with the treat over the nose.
Move it back over the head. The nose follows up and the rear goes down on its own.

Mark the exact moment.
A click or a sharp "yes" the instant the rear touches the floor, then the treat.

Add the word only once it works.
Say "sit" just before the lure. Naming it too early attaches the word to nothing.

Fade the lure, keep the reward random.
Hand signal without food, then reward unpredictably. Random beats every time.
