Get the heating ready for winter
-
Test-run the heating in October.
The first cold night is the worst time to discover a fault, and heating engineers agree: their calendars are full by November.
-
Bleed every radiator.
Top-cold radiators hold air. The full method has its own atoma: bleed a radiator.
-
Check and correct the pressure.
After bleeding, the boiler gauge should sit in the green, typically 1 to 1.5 bar. Top up via the filling loop if low.
-
Free the thermostats.
Valves stuck from summer: turn each to max and back. A tapping valve pin unsticks with a gentle wiggle, not a hammer.
-
Set a sane schedule.
Nineteen to twenty-one where you live, sixteen to seventeen at night and away. Every degree less is roughly six percent off the bill.

#1 becomes the Core. This atoma is young: submit a better distillation and take the seat.
No gear needed. Your pot, a timer and ice are enough. That is the point.
